Chocolate and Wine Gourmet fairs in Paris
Following on from the traditional Harvest Festival of Montmartre, we continue our gourmet fairs journey with two major events easily accessible from the Résidence & Spa Le Prince Régent. If you enjoy chocolate or wine, and particularly if you are passionate about both, then the Salon du Chocolat and the Grand Tasting are two trade shows we recommend for your pleasure.
Gourmet Fairs: Savour the Taste of Paris
Chocolate in all its myriad wonderful forms from cocoa to the exquisite offerings of leading chocolatiers, to edible clothing can be found at the Salon du Chocolat, at the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre from October 29th to November 2nd. This 20th anniversary edition welcomes some 500 exhibitors including 200 leading pastry chefs and chocolate experts. There will be demonstrations of the chocolatier’s skills, fun packed workshops for adults and children, exhibitions of chocolate sculptures and chocolate inspired paintings, conferences, tastings, a dedicated bookshop and the singing and dancing Cocoa Show. A major highlight of the event, as always, will be the Chocolate Fashion Show, during which catwalk models will strut their stuff in astonishing chocolate clothing creations. A great event for both industry insiders and families.
Wine enthusiasts should not miss the opportunity of a visit to the Carrousel du Louvre on November 28th and 29th to treat themselves to the joys of Le Grand Tasting. This two day wine tasting festival is an enjoyable and informal get together for connoisseurs, viticulturists, cellar masters, vintners, restaurant owners and anyone else with any interest in the grape. The brainchild of the French wine critics and authors Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve, this event began in 2006 and showcases all varieties of wine from all over the country. The festival offers an excellent programme, including a winemaker’s master class workshop, an Ecole des Terroirs educational tasting session and a chance to learn all about appropriate pairings of wine and food at the Ateliers Gourmet session.
