Concerts and live music in Paris are a hallmark of the return of spring and the early days of summer. It seems at this time of year that wherever you go across the capital you will find the joyous sounds and sights of music being performed. At the Résidence & Spa Le Prince Régent we love music and are delighted to bring to your attention some upcoming events of interest. If shopping is more your kind of thing, however, we also have an announcement coming up to make your pulse pound.
Paris is alive with the sound of Music
First, however, let’s talk music. There can surely be no better way to spend June 21st, the summer solstice, than by wandering the streets of Paris, enjoying the Fête de la Musique. All day and all night across Paris musicians perform free of charge in private venues and public spaces.
The Hippodrome de Longchamps is the setting for the Solidays festival on June 27th to 29th. This worthy event helps to raise awareness of aids and funding to help fight the disease. Nearly fifty performers from around the world gather and contribute their services for free on this family friendly occasion.
Jazz lovers should not miss the Paris Jazz Festival, which takes place on weekends in the hall of the Parc Floral de Vincennes. Attendance is free after paying admission to the park. From June 7th until July 27th you can see and hear Latin, funk, dance, soul and blues tinged forms of jazz and even a blending of jazz with the classics. Of course, when you’re in Paris for the jazz you cannot leave without visiting the legendary Sunset-Sunside club. There on July 19th you can savour the hard bop and soul jazz of the great Hammond organ player Rhoda Scott and her quartet.
Paris Summer Sales 2014 For Happy Bargain Hunting
June 25th is the date for all you dedicated shoppers to mark on your calendar, because that’s when the world famous Paris Summer Sales begin. The city’s reputation as a major shopping destination is burnished still further during the five weeks of Les Soldes, when amazing bargains are to be had everywhere. Discounts of up to 80% are by no means unheard of as the weeks go by as shops both large and small clear their old stock. To get the most out of the retail action, make sure you have the essential free Paris Shopping Book 2014 to hand.
